Bridge Over Troubled Waters!

Okehampton Walk and Talk Group approached me regarding an obstacle that was preventing the group from enjoying one of their favourite walks in the Okehampton area and asking if I could do anything about it.

Unbeknown to me, an unusual downpour of rain and subsequent water spate had widened a ditch across a ford on the bridleway, making it very difficult for some members of the group to cross.

Successful negotiations with the Okehampton Golf Club , led to the construction of a small footbridge across the ditch to one side of the bridleway being completed by myself and one of my Voluntary Wardens, Neil Gilmour.

Recently, several members of the group enjoyed using the new footbridge on one of their local walks. It was really pleasing to see such a small project make such a big difference to the group members.  Many other people who regularly walk this path have also commented on the improvement to their enjoyment of this area by the addition of the footbridge.
